Vacuum and mop in one go, without dragging a bucket through the whole apartment. A stick vacuum with a mop can handle it, but let’s be honest: it’s not the perfect fit for every household. We’ll show you who can really save time with a 2-in-1, which features matter, and when it’s smarter to choose a classic stick vacuum or even a robot vacuum.
- A stick vacuum with a mop is ideal if you mostly have hard floors at home and clean frequently. Tiles, vinyl, laminate, muddy dog paws or part of your child’s lunch on the floor, of course... that’s exactly what a 2-in-1 is made for.
- The main thing to look for when choosing a vacuum with a mopping function? Separate tanks for clean and dirty water, without a doubt. Otherwise, you’ll just spread the dirt systematically throughout your entire home.
- Do carpets dominate your home? Then a stick vacuum with a mop is the wrong choice. Go for a classic “dry” model instead.
What is a stick vacuum with a mop, and how does it actually mop?
Stick vacuums with a mop, also known as floor cleaners, are cordless vacuums that vacuum the floor and mop it right behind them. Everything in one go.
As soon as you turn on the vacuum, water starts being dispensed from the tank into the mopping nozzle or onto the rotating roller. The dirt is then either captured by the microfiber cloth, or the vacuum sucks it straight into the second tank.
Manufacturers handle wet cleaning in two ways, and you’ll notice the difference from the very first day.
1) Mopping attachment with a cloth
The cheaper option. You click an attachment with a microfiber cloth onto the floor nozzle, the vacuum dispenses water onto it from the tank, and the cloth wipes the floor behind you. But the dirt stays in the cloth, so you have to rinse it regularly. Still, it may be more than enough for light daily cleaning.
You won’t currently find this option among Niceboy stick vacuums, but it is used by robot vacuums with a mopping function, including the Niceboy Charles i4 Plus.
2) Wet & dry system with a roller
More expensive, but more thorough. The vacuum has two tanks: one releases clean water onto the rotating roller, while the other draws dirty water back into the body. This means you always mop with clean water. It can handle grease in the kitchen and households with children or pets.
That’s exactly how the Niceboy Hurricane W9 Wet & Dry works, the only stick vacuum with a mop in our range.
Who is a stick vacuum with a mop worth it for?
When your home has mostly hard floors
Tiles, vinyl, laminate, linoleum... This is where a 2-in-1 vacuum makes the most sense. Hard floors need both - duh. First vacuum up the dust, then wipe away grease and smudges. When you can do it in one go, you save yourself the entire second half of cleaning.
Do you only have a few area rugs at home? You don't need to change anything, just switch to Dry Cleaning mode - and vacuum as you would with any regular stick vacuum. It's good to know, though, that it reliably handles mostly low-pile carpets.
When you're dealing with messes at home every day
- Dog paw prints because you have a garden
- Spilled milk under the chair,
- Crushed tomato sauce on the way from the kitchen to the table
There's no need to get out a bucket and a cloth for that. You grab the mop vacuum from its stand, vacuum and mop the affected square metre, and put it back. In two minutes - that is, if you choose a self-cleaning vacuum. Otherwise, you'll find that mopping itself is quick, but cleaning the vacuum takes ten minutes of rinsing and disassembling it. So much for saving time. That's why, with a 2-in-1, look for a self-cleaning program before anything else.
When, on the other hand, to choose a classic stick vacuum cleaner
So you've decided to go for a wet and dry vacuum cleaner. Great - now check out what you need to look for when choosing one to avoid regretting your decision later.

Suction power
It is measured in kilopascals (kPa) and indicates how strong a suction force the vacuum cleaner generates.
- Hard floors: a lower value is enough
- High-pile carpets: you want 20 kPa or more, otherwise you are just going over ingrained sand
For vacuum cleaners with wet cleaning, we do not state kPa, but rather the motor power input. The reason is practical: When mopping, the rotating roller and water dispensing matter more than suction power alone.
Battery life
The figures on the box apply to Eco mode and dry vacuuming. As soon as you switch to “mopping and full power” mode, the battery life decreases, so keep that in mind.
A model with a replaceable battery is especially worthwhile when you clean multiple floors.
Tip from Niceboy: In our accessories section, you’ll find spare batteries, filters and other parts that might come in handy.
Wet cleaning and self-cleaning system
Pay attention to the tank capacity too. Around 0.6 l is enough for an average apartment in one go, while in a larger apartment you’ll need to refill the water more often.
And one last thing: the self-cleaning program. After cleaning, you put the vacuum cleaner back in its base, press a button and the water jets rinse the roller for you. It may sound like a small detail, but in the end it’s the difference between “I enjoy cleaning” and “not the cleaning again.”
Filtration
The H13 HEPA filter captures up to 99.95% of particles, including pollen, dust mites and fine dust. For allergy sufferers, filtration isn’t just nice to have, but one of the main selection criteria.
When it comes to maintenance, wet cleaning means dealing with water too. Don’t forget to empty the dirty water tank, ideally right after cleaning. Otherwise, you’ll notice the smell the very next day, and it’s not pleasant.
Stick vacuum with a mop vs. robot vacuum with mopping

Our recommendation:
- Want to stay in control of cleaning and get it done when it suits you? Go for a stick vacuum with a mop.
- Want to come home to a clean place without lifting a finger? Go for a robot.
- The best solution is a combination. The robot runs during the day, while the stick vacuum handles spills and places the robot can't reach.
.
What about a steam mop?
There's also a third option that often comes up in forums. A steam mop steams and wipes the floor with a cloth, but it doesn't vacuum. So you have to vacuum first, otherwise you'll just push crumbs around the room.
It doesn't have a dirty-water tank either. The dirt stays in the cloth, which you have to replace or wash, making it just as much work as with a traditional mop. On the other hand, it disinfects with hot steam without chemicals and reaches into the grout between tiles.
Want one machine instead of two? Go for a stick vacuum with a mop. Is disinfection your main priority? A steam mop still has its place.

Niceboy Hurricane W9 Wet & Dry
Our flagship wet and dry vacuum cleaner for hard floors.
- Separate tanks: 0.65 l for clean water, 0.5 l for dirty water.
- 180 W motor with Cyclone PRO technology maintains suction power even when the tank is full.
- ECO and MAX modes depending on whether you’re doing a quick clean or a deep clean.
- Self-cleaning program: place it in the base and the water jets rinse the roller for you.
- MAX Clean filtration with HEPA H13 captures up to 99.95% of particles.
Who it’s for: homes with tile or vinyl flooring that gets mopped almost every day.
Limit: battery life is up to 30 minutes, and at 4 kg it’s the heaviest stick vacuum in our range. The water tanks add to the weight. It’s also designed for hard floors, so if you have a large home with carpets, look elsewhere.
Niceboy Hurricane H7 Plus
This mop doesn't have, however, it can easily vacuum up spilled water or juice. It's capable of that, it just doesn't actively wipe it up. On the other hand, it has one of the strongest suctions in our stick vacuum range (only the H9 is more powerful).
- 300W BLDC motor and suction power of up to 26 kPa. Trampled-in sand from the hallway carpet, pet litter, spilled flour... it handles all of that and more.
- Up to 50 minutes in ECO mode on a single charge, while POWER delivers 15 minutes of turbo cleaning.
- Replaceable battery. Buy a second one and add an extra hour of cleaning.
- Anti-tangle turbo brush. You won't have to painstakingly cut hair out of the brush after every cleaning session.
- 2.2 kg as a stick vacuum, 1.4 kg as a handheld vacuum. Just click it into place and you've got it in the car.
Who it's for: households with carpets and pets, where mopping is a lower priority.
Limitation: you won't be mopping with it. Get a separate mop for water, or go for the W9.
Niceboy Charles i4 Plus
The best of both worlds: a robot that vacuums and mops at the same time, planning its own route.
- Three suction power levels and three water dispensing levels can be set in the app
- 400 ml dust container, 250 ml water tank
Who it's for: anyone who wants their floors vacuumed and mopped without lifting a finger.
Limit: it can't climb stairs and won't apply extra pressure to dried-on stains. You'll still need to step in manually from time to time.
Frequently asked questions
Does a stick vacuum with a mop really clean the floor thoroughly?
It handles ordinary daily dirt, but not dried-on dirt as reliably. It easily deals with spilled drinks, fresh footprints and dried breakfast drips. However, a mop will not dissolve dried-on grease or an older coffee stain. For that, you need to apply pressure and wait for a while, and no stick vacuum can do that. Think of it as a replacement for everyday mopping, not a deep clean.
How often should I change the water and clean the mopping nozzle?
Always pour out the dirty water immediately after cleaning, and top up the clean water according to the floor area. In a larger apartment, expect to refill the water during cleaning as well. With the Niceboy W9, simply start the self-cleaning program in the base after cleaning, and the water jets will rinse the roller for you. If you leave the head closed and wet, it will not take long for odors to appear.
Can a stick vacuum with a mop also clean carpets?
Yes, but only dry. When it comes to our W9, the mopping head is designed primarily for hard floors. However, if you need to vacuum a carpet, simply switch to Dry Cleaning mode and vacuum.
Other vacuum cleaners with mopping functions may work differently, so do not forget to read the manual.
Is a stick vacuum with a mop better than a robot vacuum with a mopping function?
It depends on what bothers you more. If you hate cleaning itself, get a robot: it cleans while you do anything else. If you want to have the cleaning done immediately and under control, get a stick vacuum with a mop. It can also handle stairs, the sofa and the car, where a robot cannot reach.
How many kPa do I need for an apartment?
For hard floors, lower values are enough, as dust offers little resistance on a smooth surface. Once you have carpets or a pet at home, go for 20 kPa or more. The 25 kPa threshold then separates stick vacuums that are “good enough for an apartment” from those that “can even replace a corded vacuum cleaner.”
